The first annual Alsatia Mummers Parade was held on Halloween 1921. The parade met with such widespread public approval that except for 1941 through 1945 it is the largest single annual event in Hagerstown. The parade includes a variety of entries from (bands, majorettes, color guard, drill teams, cheer, dance, scouts, 4-H, or schools in special dress). The parade is held the last Saturday of October, rain, snow or shine.
The parade route begins on North Potomac Avenue just passed Charles Street and ends at the intersection of South Potomac and Howard Street. The entire South Potomac Section is referred to as the Judging Area – this runs from south of Locust Point Grocery to intersection of Memorial Blvd.
Public restrooms are located at the north end in staging areas, public square and by bester elementary school. For more information about the Alsatia Mummers Parade go to https://www.alsatiaclubinc.com/parade/
